Our Hawaii tour company SEO case study below shows what happens when a focused, long-term strategy is built around 1 clear goal, and executed without distraction. For our client, a Molokini snorkel tour operator, after 12 months in: organic revenue has more than doubled, Google click volume has nearly doubled, and the campaign is still running! The best results are still ahead.
Here’s exactly how we did it, and what the real numbers look like today.
Our Client: a Molokini Snorkel Tour Company Operating Since 2016
Our client is a small-group ocean tour operator based at Maalaea Harbor on Maui’s south shore. They run snorkel tours to Molokini Crater and Turtle Cove aboard their small boat (Hawaii’s only custom-built luxury super raft). Their tours are boutique by design, built around small groups, expert guides, and an experience that genuinely stands apart from the large charter boats that crowd the harbor.
When they came to Myna Marketing in 2025, their website was generating traffic, but it wasn’t converting the way it should have been. Their tour pages lacked the technical foundation and content depth needed to compete in one of the most crowded search categories in Hawaii tourism.
Their goal was clear: grow the Molokini snorkeling side of the business through organic search, and do it without gimmicks or shortcuts.
The Challenge: Generate Growth in One of the Most Competitive Spaces in Hawaii
Molokini snorkeling is one of the most competitive keyword spaces in Hawaii. Dozens of operators compete for the same searches, and the landscape is dominated by large booking platforms, high-authority travel publications, and established brands with years of domain strength behind them. Breaking through required a methodical, long-term approach built on fundamentals.
There was also significant structural work to do on the website itself. Some pages had heading issues, weak or missing meta titles and descriptions, no internal linking strategy, and almost no written content (meaning, they were being completely ignored by Google). The blog existed but was underutilized. The site had no real authority in the eyes of search engines, and the Molokini snorkeling pages, the core of the business, had nothing pushing them forward.
The Strategy: Build a SEO Foundation First, Then Implement our Proprietary Strategy!
The campaign launched summer of 2025, with a full technical SEO audit during the first month. This identified every priority issue across the site and gave us a clear roadmap before a single word of content was written or a single link was built.
The following couple months were spent implementing those fixes across every page. Heading structures were corrected, meta data was rewritten, 301 redirects were setup where needed, and so on until we fixed all technical issues the website had!
Once a solid SEO foundation was in place, the campaign shifted into full ongoing execution. At Myna Marketing, this includes:
- SEO-optimized content, rewrites for important pages, built entirely around the language real customers use when they search for tours on Maui.
- Targeted backlinks campaign, to build the site’s domain authority through relevant, high-quality placements that signal credibility.
- Business citation building, across relevant directories to strengthen local SEO signals.
- Google Business Profile optimization, to keep the listing active and improve its visibility for snorkeling-related searches.
- …. and the list goes on!
Every single piece of this strategy was focused exclusively on Molokini snorkeling. And the results below reflect what disciplined focus on a single goal actually looks like!
The Results of our Hawaii Tour Company SEO Case Study
The data below compares the first half of 2026 (anuary through June), against the second half of 2025 (July through December), which represents the clearest before-and-after picture of what our campaign has produced.
Organic Revenue: Up 125%
This is the most important metric of all: Organic search alone generated $100K+ in tracked revenue during the first half of 2026, compared to $50K+ in the second half of 2025. That’s a 125% increase in real bookings from people who found our client through Google!

Sessions from organic search also grew 62% over the same period, and engaged sessions grew 56%, meaning more people were arriving, staying longer, and converting.
Google Search Console: Clicks Up 74%, Average Position Up Nearly 10 Spots
Total clicks from Google grew from 1,850 to 3,220 in 6 monhtn – that’s a 74% increase!
Total impressions grew from 246,000 to 294,000:

Their average position in Google improved from 27.7 to 18.2, meaning the site climbed nearly 10 positions on average across every single keyword the business ranks for.
Click-through rate also improved from 0.8% to 1.1%, a clear sign that the rewritten content and meta data are earning more clicks once the site appears in results.
Keyword Rankings: Page One Presence Where There Was None
The keyword ranking data is where you can see the campaign’s precision most clearly. When we started a year ago, most core Molokini snorkeling terms were either not ranking at all or sitting far outside page one. Today, the picture looks completely different:

The site now holds position 1 for “small group Molokini snorkel.” It ranks position 7 for “Molokini snorkeling tips” and so on. For “molokini crater snorkel,” one of the highest-volume terms in this category with 8,100 monthly searches, the site has climbed to position 11 after starting outside the rankings entirely! Dozens of supporting Molokini terms now rank a lot better as well, the majority of them showing significant improvement from their starting points.
These aren’t vanity metrics. These are rankings on real terms that real people search when deciding where to book a snorkel tour on Maui.
Google Business Profile: Snorkeling Visibility Growing Year Over Year
Google Business Profile data for February through June 2026 shows 31,056 profile views, up 33.4% compared to the same time period in 2025, and 9,513 searches showing the profile in results, up 11.5% year over year.

Among the top search terms driving profile visibility, “molokini crater snorkeling” and “maui snorkeling tours” both appear, reflecting the growing reach of the SEO work on the snorkeling side of the business.
What Do These SEO Campaign Results Really Mean?
One full year into this campaign, the results are compounding in exactly the way a well-built SEO strategy should. Revenue from organic search has more than doubled. Click volume from Google has nearly doubled. The site has gone from having almost no page-one presence for Molokini snorkeling keywords, to ranking in the top 10 for multiple high-intent terms (and it’s climbing on dozens more).
None of this happened by accident. It happened because the strategy was built around one focused goal, executed consistently month after month, and never diluted by chasing secondary objectives before the primary one was established.
And the campaign is still running. More on-page and off-page signals are being built. The authority this site has built over the past year will continue to compound. And the rankings and revenue numbers will continue to move with it.
