HVAC Marketing Case Study: 37% More Site Traffic That Converts

HVAC Marketing Case Study

Our HVAC marketing case study below shows what happens when a home services business commits to a long-term SEO strategy and lets it run.

See how 18 months in, we obtained: 37% more organic traffic is, 30% more calls, and every single keyword we track for this account now ranks on Page 1 in Google (not most, or the easy ones… all of them!)

Here’s a breakdown on how we did it:

Our Client: A Certified AC and HVAC Contractor, Serving All of Maui

Our client is a certified air conditioning and HVAC contractor on Maui. He does everything from AC repair and installation to ductless AC systems, routine maintenance, and specialized services like blower wheel and coil cleaning. And in an industry where “certified” and “licensed” aren’t just marketing words but the reason a homeowner picks up the phone, the name of the business is also its promise.

When our client came to Myna Marketing in February 2025, their goal was to become the #1 business Maui residents and property managers find first when they search for AC or HVAC help.

The Challenge: Winning a Crowded, Trust-Driven Search Category

AC and HVAC searches on Maui are competitive local service terms. Anyone with a broken AC unit in July is searching for a solution right then and there, and home services searches like these are also unusually trust-sensitive. People don’t just want a contractor near them, they want someone they can trust inside their home (which means rankings alone aren’t enough). The content, the reviews, and the business profile all have to reinforce the same message.

On top of that, this wasn’t just a single-keyword campaign. Our client actually offers six distinct services, from AC repairs, installations, ductless AC installations, maintenance, as well as blower wheel and coil cleaning. Each with its own search demand and its own competitors… Winning visibility meant building real authority across all of it, not optimizing for one thing and calling it done.

The Strategy: Full Audit First, Then Relentless Monthly SEO Fullfilment

The campaign began with a complete SEO audit in February 2025: mapping every technical issue, content gap, and ranking opportunity across the site before a single change went live. The next two months were spent implementing that roadmap: fixing the technical foundation so everything built afterward would actually stick.

From May 2025 onward, the campaign moved into full ongoing execution. At Myna Marketing, that means:

  • SEO-optimized service page content, rewritten around the exact language Maui homeowners use when they search for AC repair, installation, ductless systems, maintenance, and blower wheel and coil cleaning;
  • A consistent blog content calendar, targeting the seasonal and how-to searches that bring in customers before they even know which service they need;
  • A targeted backlink campaign, building the domain authority that lets every page compete for its keywords;
  • Business citation building, strengthening the local SEO signals that matter for a service business;
  • Google Business Profile optimizations, keeping the listing active and visible for local AC and HVAC searches;
  • Press releases, a few published so far, with more in the pipeline.

Every part of this strategy pointed at the same goal: owning organic visibility across Maui, service by service. The results below show what our SEO efforts produced.

The Results of Our Air Conditioning SEO Case Study

The traffic and search data below compares the most recent six full months (March 1 – August 31, 2026) to the six months before that (August 29, 2025 – February 28, 2026), a clean before-and-after look at the last full year of the campaign. Google Business Profile data compares April – August 2026 to the same five months in 2025.

Keyword Wins: From Scattered to a Clean Sweep

This is the number that matters most: every single keyword we track for this account now ranks on page #1 in Google.

HVAC SEO Case Study Results

Some of these terms started nowhere close. “Mini split AC system vs. central air on Maui” started at position 28 and now sits at #1. “Eco-friendly cooling options for Maui homes” climbed from position 22 to #1. Core service terms like “HVAC Maui” and “Maui HVAC” moved from positions 16 and 14 into the top spot, and “Certified air conditioning” climbed from position 12 to #1.

Just as important, a separate group of keywords, including “Wall air conditioner on Maui,” “split unit installation in Maui,” “Maui ductless AC installation,” and “HVAC repair Maui,” ranked #1 from the very first time we checked and have never given up that spot in the SERPs. That’s the difference between a lucky ranking and a defensible one.

Traffic Wins: More Sessions, More Clicks, Better Positions

Organic sessions grew 37.3% year-over-year comparison period, and engaged sessions grew even faster, up 44.7%. Also, people aren’t just clicking, they’re staying on the site: average engagement time per session is up 25.7%, and total events (the actions people take on the site) grew 49.1%, from 6,891 to 10,276. Key events, the tracked conversions like calls and inquiries generated directly from organic search, also went from 0 to 5 in this period.

Our organic data analysis tells the same story. Total clicks grew 42.9%, and total impressions grew 68.5%. The site’s average position across every tracked query improved from 16.6 to 11.4, a climb of more than five spots on average, moving the account from the bottom of page two into the top of page one.

GBP Data: More Calls, More Real Leads

Google Business Profile interactions went up 5.3% compared to the same time period in 2025. But the headline number here is calls: phone calls generated directly from the Business Profile are up 30.6% year-over-year. For a home services business, that’s not a vanity metric, that’s the real phone ringing.

Website click interactions from the profile were down 7.2% over the same period, a trend we’re seeing across a number of accounts right now as more people get quick answers through AI tools before clicking through to a website. It’s an industry-wide shift, not a weak spot in this campaign, and it’s exactly why the call increase matters so much: people are still reaching for the phone.

The search terms bringing people to the profile are squarely on target too. The top five are “air conditioning maui” (68 searches), “ac repair maui” (45), “hawaii hvac” (21), “hvac maui” (16), and “hvac contractor maui” (under 15), every one of them a direct match for the business this campaign was built to grow.

What Do These SEO Campaign Results Really Mean?

More than a year into this campaign, the results are compounding exactly the way a well-built SEO strategy should. Organic traffic is up nearly 40%. And a site that once had to fight for visibility across the different services they offer now ranks on page 1 in Google for every keyword our team optimized for.

None of this happened by accident. It happened because the strategy covered every service the business actually offers, built real authority month after month, and kept showing up long after the “quick wins” phase would have tempted a less disciplined agency to move on.

And the campaign is still running! More content, more backlinks, more press coverage, and more Google Business Profile activity are in motion. The authority this account has built so far will keep compounding, and so will the rankings.
